When Field Service and Finance Finally Speak the Same Language
JLS Automation had elite field technicians and a real-time profitability problem. Inovi connected the dots — SQL, SAP Concur, and Salesforce Field Service — so every work order tells the full financial story.
The Situation
JLS Automation builds vision-guided robotic packaging systems for the food industry — precision machinery operating in demanding production environments where a line stoppage isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s a financial emergency. When something breaks, their field technicians have to respond fast, accurately, and with zero margin for error.
On that front, JLS had no problem. Their field service operation, running on Salesforce Field Service, was performing well. Technicians were dispatched efficiently, service calls were logged, and customers were supported.
The problem lived one layer deeper — in finance.
The Challenge
Technical field data was siloed in external SQL databases. Travel and expense records lived in SAP Concur. Salesforce had no view into either. When management wanted to understand the true profitability of a work order — the actual cost of labor, travel, parts, and time — someone had to manually pull data from three systems, reconcile it in a spreadsheet, and hope the numbers weren’t already stale by the time the analysis was finished.
This wasn’t a people problem. JLS had capable teams on both sides of the divide. It was an architecture problem: data living in separate systems with no automated bridge between them. The result was a field service operation generating revenue while leadership operated partially blind to its true margins.
The Solution
Inovi Solutions was brought in to close the loop. The mandate was precise: build an automated, reliable integration that pulls labor and expense data from their existing systems and maps it directly to Salesforce work orders — without disrupting what was already working.
We designed a two-part integration architecture that treated JLS’s existing tech stack as assets, not obstacles.
No rip-and-replace. No disruption to field operations. Just clean, automated data flow connecting the systems JLS already relied on — and surfacing the financial intelligence they’d been missing.
The Results
JLS Automation’s field service team was always high-performing. Now, leadership can see exactly what that performance costs — and what it earns. That’s the difference between a service operation and a strategically visible service operation.
When every work order tells its complete financial story in real time, margin decisions stop being guesses and start being strategy.
